The Director Procurement Profile

PAUL, Michael Odion, a native of Ihievbe in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State was born on 10th January 1965 in Iwo, Osun State. He attended Methodist Primary School, Arowomole Ogbomosho, Oyo State for his Primary Education in 1977 and Obokhoduma Muslim Primary School Ihievbe, Edo State. He later proceeded to Comprehensive High School, OkugbeOkpella, Edo State for his Secondary Education. As an astute sportsman, he joined the School’s first eleven football team [in form I] and played regularly for the school, as well as his hometown until he left Secondary School in 1982. He obtained his National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Business Education from the Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka, Lagos in 1988.

Paul joined the Federal Government Service through the Nigerian Educational Research & Development Council (NERDC) on 2nd December, 1988 as a Secretarial Assistant and was converted to an Administrative Officer after obtaining a B.Sc (Hons) and a Master’s Degree in Business Education from the prestigious Universities of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) and Benin (UNIBEN) respectively. These were achieved with academic scholarships won through competitive examinations from the Federal Ministry of Education.

Paul’s career which spans almost thirty years now includes being a Confidential Secretary, an Administrative Officer, Coordinator/Head Minor Goods & Works Procurement Committee, Bookshop Manager, Transport Officer, Head of Pension Secretariat and Secretary to the Pension Board of Trustees; Head Pension and Welfare as well as Appointment, Promotion & Discipline Divisions in NERDC at various times. He worked in NERDC’s South West Zonal Office, Lagos, North West Zonal Office, Kano as an Acting Zonal Officer, as well as at the Procurement Department at the Headquarters. He was promoted to the post of Director, Procurement Department in 2018.
